Prey Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

When it comes to playing first person shooting games it is DOOM 3 or QUAKE 4 but when it comes to first person shooting plus high level of interactivity, the answer is PREY. Developed by Human Head Studios PREY, is based on a modified version of the DOOM 3 engine. Prey is about a character called Tommy who gets sucked from a hotel into an alien spaceship called the Sphere. Along with Tommy are his girlfriend and grandfather. The real story starts from here when he has to battle with many alien forces that are heavily armed but not tough to handle. The in game action is simple and interesting as... (more...)

Perfect Dark Zero Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

Patience is the first thing that you need to play Perfect Dark Zero. Though the game fully exploits the Xbox 360 graphics engine, it misses the gameplay angle. Overview: Perfect Dark Zero was first released for the Nintendo 64 and was a huge hit. Microsoft undoubtedly made a revolutionary move by bringing the Perfect Dark series to the Xbox 360. The game is a sequel to the original series. Graphics: Simply awesome! Graphics are realistic, like the other Xbox 360 games, but the glows and the black shades, make you feel that you are in some kind of a movie controlling a female spy. The blood as... (more...)

Pariah Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

Pariah has been released by Groove games and developed by Digital Extremes, well known for games such as Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Dark Sector, and Epic Pinball. With such a flowery portfolio, when Digital Extremes announced their new FPS named Pariah, it generated quite a hype among the fans, but alas. The story of Pariah is no different from almost every second FPS game being released. Even by comparing it to normal standards, Pariah falls short on many counts. It does not provide anything new for the gamers, not even in terms of a storyline. Pariah was released both for PC and XBOX and the... (more...)

Night Watch Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

Those who have watched the movie Night Watch need not be excited about the release of the game. Night watch developed by Nival Interactive is based on the movie title, but the story does not match with the movie. The game is a turn based role playing strategy game which has a good storyline, different from the movie though. The game involves battles with various enemies like vampires, werewolves, witches and other supernatural creatures. There is this so called ‘battle’ between two sides called the dark side and the bright side. You start as a character called Stas on top of a building with... (more...)

Neverwinter Nights 2 Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

With so many Role Playing Games (RPG’s) making an entry into the market it is becoming more confusing for gamers who play RPG’s to make an effort to differentiate between games that are equipped with the most advanced graphics, sound and gameplay. Obsidian Entertainment’s Neverwinter Nights 2 is one such entry which is based on the Dungeons and Dragons RPG. Its predecessor Neverwinter Nights was one such RPG which has made an everlasting impact on the minds of RPG crazy gamers. This has inspired Obsidian Entertainment to release the next part which is just another RPG with amazing sound... (more...)

Need For Speed Most Wanted Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

“Isn’t it too soon?” that’s the question that struck me when I was playing Underground 2 and heard of Most Wanted’s launch. EA took over NFS series and it all started: Illegal street racing. First there was Underground, then immediately came Underground 2 and before I could remember the lyrics of the soundtrack, there is Most Wanted. Isn’t it too early to launch a game? Isn’t it too early to add another in the series? Isn’t EA going too fast? Well, maybe they wanted to cash the Xbox 360 hype, maybe they wanted to cash on the trend of street racing, maybe they had... (more...)

NASCAR Thunder 2003 Review

Posted on January 23, 2008

The NASCAR Racing series from Papyrus has consistently been at the top of its genre. EA Sports tries to reproduce a little of that magic in its NASCAR Thunder 2003. Tries… and fails. Let us examine the wreck…This is the annual update to the NASCAR Thunder series for the console, but its first release on the PC. The game is almost identical on the three main console platforms, the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. Unfortunately, the PC version of NASCAR Thunder 2003 is nowhere near as good as its console cousins. Nor does it have any PC-specific enhanced features. When you first start the... (more...)

MotoGP 2 Review

Posted on January 22, 2008

There’s nothing quite like racing along at over 200 km/hr on your Honda NSR 500. Unfortunately most of us neither have a superbike nor access to good enough roads to reach 200 km/hr. Thank God for video games! Moto GP 2 is the sequel to MotoGP, the smash hit that redefined the moto-racing sim. MotoGP 2 stunningly recreates the passion of motorcycle racing. Unfortunately for beginners, this game is slightly hard to master as the bikes have realistic physics and handling. Expect to spend a few hours flying off your bike at regular intervals, thankfully with no damage to either bike or rider.... (more...)

Max Payne 2 Review

Posted on January 22, 2008

Max Payne 2 is a breathtaking ride filled with slow-motion sequences, blazing guns, cutting-edge graphics and the corniest dialogue you’ll ever hear this side of the Great Wall. The story is just an excuse to propel Max from one level to the other, using bullet time to rack up a body count that would make Sunny Deol proud. (For those who came in late, Bullet Time is a special zone that Max can enter at will. It makes the entire world slow down to a crawl while letting you aim at normal speed. If used properly, this can be a truly devastating tool, letting you plow through an entire roomful of... (more...)

Madden Football 2004 Review

Posted on January 22, 2008

The Madden football series is presently in its 14th year. Needless to say, Electronic Arts has mastered the art of creating a great football sim. Madden 2003 was the best football game released last year on the PC or console. Surprisingly, last years PC version actually had a few extras such as the ability to accelerate the game clock. This year, the game options are as varied as ever. You can play a single game against the computer or a friend or simply take your skills online. The game also offers the 2-Minute Drill, the Mini Camp where you improve your player’s abilities & Practise... (more...)
