In a quick interview, the Zakman tells us about himself, his prowess in FPS games and how the Agents do it in style down under. AshR : Hi da. a/s/l? Go on, tell us about yourself. Zaki : Hi guys. Gaming Comes of Age in India
Posted on February 5, 2008
Every now and then a change is bound to occur. This time around the change is related to gaming and especially gaming in India. I remember not so long ago my parents would reprimand me when I would talk about games and gaming in general. With all the media hype and myths that surround gaming I don’t however blame them. Things however did not improve until I myself talked with them and made them understand that gaming is not bad for anyone and there are advantages of gaming that have been proven scientifically. This effectively culled all the doubts they had in their minds and life became easier.... (more...)
Games on Films
Posted on February 5, 2008
Games and the films based on them basically have one thing in common. Yes, they are meant for those dedicated gamers who have already played the game and want to see their favorite videogame characters come to life. There are many movies today that are being produced and are a real hit at the box office because they are mainly based on a videogame’s storyline. Furthermore, some movies are released even before the games have been released, thus making the game freaks even more eager to play the game. Such examples could be DOOM3, Silent Hill, The God Father and many more. The movie DOOM starring... (more...)
Gamebox National Championship 2007 Exclusive Coverage
Posted on February 5, 2008
This year’s Republic Day could very well go down in my books as the one of the most hectic days ever, all because of Skoar 2007 being held in the premises of Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The event was a first of its kind in the capital and was a tremendous success setting the stage for much bigger events to follow on. Three days of nonstop gaming along with the best in the country competing in tourneys which they specialize in, this was the result of some big corporations who are pushing the level of gaming to global standards. Reliance held its Gamebox National Championship 2007 finals at the venue... (more...)

Posted on February 5, 2008
With a team comprising of 50+, dedicated to the cause of good and gaming in general, FX labs is one of the biggest, but unheard of, game developers in the country. Headed by Shashi Reddy, also of Applabs, FX labs has gained renown by providing “3d animation services for TV, feature films, advertisements and e learning products.” We caught up with Shashank Uchil, who as some may remember, is the bespectacled dude who made a lot of q3a maps and then clamped his nose and sunk like a rock, until he was washed ashore the land of Hyderabad. Scrizer says: Alright, tell us about yourself _shank says:Hey... (more...)
Exclusive with Chris Thompson of EA
Posted on February 5, 2008
On his recent visit to India, we caught up with Chris Thompson, EA Vice President and General Manager SouthEast Asia Publishing, on whose ‘controlling’ the present and who will ‘control’ the future. Scrizer: How does the FIFA engine compare to the graphical prowess of games such as doom3 and half life 2? Chris: Sports games are different than FPS games. The game has different technological and AI requirements so engineers focus on different areas. In a game like FIFA the engine needs to manage all the players on the pitch as well as the goalies. They all need to act and... (more...)

Everything About Uwe Boll

Here is a very unusual question: What do all of these games have in common? Far Cry (2008) Postal (2007) Seed (2007) In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007) BloodRayne (2005) Alone in the Dark (2005) House of the Dead (2003) Here are some interesting answers: 1. All the above games are being made (or have been made) into movies. 2. All movies released till now have not been big hits on the box office. 3. The same man directed all of them. 4. There are two severe groups, the cult followers who love these movies and the regular movie-goers who think all this should never have... (more...)
