Left 4 Dead to be Published in Russia by Akella

Left 4 Dead One of the most eagerly awaited survival horror games of this year is Left 4 Dead. Now Valve has sent word that they have gotten into an agreement with Eastern European game publisher Akella, who will be publishing Left 4 Dead in Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.

Left 4 Dead is a cooperative survival horror game that sees four survivors in a classic fight against packs of teeming zombies and frightening “Boss Infected” mutants. It will feature games of one to eight players and gamers will be able to play as a survivor or as one of the four kinds of Boss Infected, who have unique mutant capabilities.

Vladimir Koudr is the vice president of publishing at Akella. He explains, “Akella is thrilled to be able to bring this unique game to Russian speaking territories. We are very thrilled by all Valve’s games and pretty sure of huge success of this new cooperative shooter hit in Russia and CIS countries. Left 4 Dead is already highly expected throughout the world, and Russian FPS players are eager to play this game.”

Doug Lombardi is the vice president of marketing at Valve. He comments, “Left 4 Dead is Valve’s attempt to fill gamers’ desire for a lively and engaging co-operative action experience. This has been validated by the press, who are calling it one of the most anticipated titles of the year. We will be working directly with Akella as we prepare the launch of Left 4 Dead in one of today’s fastest growing gaming markets.”

Left 4 Dead is being developed for the PC by Turtle Rock Studios, while Certain Affinity is working on the Xbox 360 port of the game. The game is expected to be out in the fall season of 2008. They aim to ship it all over the world simultaneously.
