Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Preview

Flawless Victory Midway will release the next version of Mortal Kombat for the XBOX and PS very soon. This version will continue along the lines of the last release Mortal Kombat: Deception. Midway presents you with their latest release Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.

After Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung and saved the earth from his evil plans during the first Mortal Kombat tournament, Shang Tsung has been plotting his return with more evil plots. Shang Tsung escaped through a portal which opened up during a mysterious earthquake. Now after an attempt by Baraka to take over the earth by force the Shaolin Monks are ready to attack Shang Tsung in the outerworld encouraged by Raiden. Your quest is to ensure their success.

Fatality

With the new release more features will be expected from the game developers. MK: SM features multi directional combat system similar to the earlier releases where the player can move and attack in any direction. This is modeled just like a real world fight.

You can play single player or co-operative mode with another player against the hordes of Shang Tsung. Each character will have a range of fatalities even ranging upto 10 fatalities and they are available in 3 levels. The higher level of fatality executed the more opponents can be killed. Also introduced are Mutuality’s and Brutalities. In Mutuality which is fatality level 2, multiple opponents can be killed and in the 3rd level – Brutality, the player can kill as many enemies as he can lay his hands upon in a fixed amount of time.

Various weapons can be found along the journey and they can be used to inflict more damage on the opponents. The environment can also be used to destroy the opponents such as acid pits, spiked ceilings and hooks.

Moreover the characters can be customized as per the player’s choice by adding experience points gained along the journey. Choose from different specializations and apply them to your character.

The player can relive the classic Mortal Kombat by fighting against age old and recognizable enemies such as Sub Zero, Scorpion, Kitana, Goro.

Outstanding

Among he current slew of characters that are available in the game, one can play using the Shaloin Monks Liu Kang and Kung Lao. The friends and foes that are there in the game but cannot play with include Reptile, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Sub Zero, Kano, Scorpion, Sonya and Guard. A list of more characters from the game will be released soon by Midway.

The huge set of environments include the dark Living Forest, the scary Netherealm, the holy Wu Shi Academy, the dead Soul Tombs, the desolate Wasteland, the hot Foundry, the haunted Evil Monastery and the underground Goro’s Lair.

Graphics looks good as ever with well sculpted bodies and accurate character movements and physics. Environmental effects and sound effects are just stunning.

Victory

The verdict on MK:SM is out. This is a must buy for the people who are keen players of the MK series. With stunning graphics and sound and good game-play, this game is worth the money. PC players will have to wait and see if the game will be ported from the XBOX and PS2. The players who are not followers will do good to pick this game from the stores and try it out. It will be worth it.
