WWE Raw Review

January 23, 2008

WWE Raw When I got the RAW CD in my hand for the first time, I wasn’t expecting much from it cause I’ve never been much for these arcade style wrestling games but believe me WWE: RAW is much more than a simple arcade game.

Gameplay

The gameplay is truly amazing; add to it the wide range of features and numerous tournament options. Unlike WCW Nitro, another title by the same publisher, WWE Raw is much more than just banging your opponent all around the ring. In this game the player must use various control combinations to trounce on your opponent. There are also some new features including the adrenaline meter, which measures the crowd attitude towards you.

Graphics

Amazing! Stunning! Beautiful! Pretty good is an understatement. Picture this.. Wrestlers marching to the ring in a surrounded by giant video walls and legions of screaming fans with a truly spectacular display of fireworks. The game just gets Raw from your TV to PC. This brilliant segment just gets your blood pumping. The sound is good but there are still some glitches around.

Technical

Now comes the most disappointing part of the game. The game just refused to run on a machine with an on-board graphics card. Which is a real bad news for an average gamer with a low-end machine. Apart from this, the game offers severe technical quirks. Sometimes the music fails to play and few times the game just crashed. Also there is no save feature in longer tournaments as mentioned in the manual.

One thing, which I’m still not able to figure out, is the use of the CD key on the CD cover. They don’t ask you for it any time from the installation to starting of the game!

Pros- Great looking game, lots of tournament options, great graphics.

Cons- Technically weak, no save feature, you definitely need a POWERHOUSE to enjoy the real eye candy.

The Final Word

This state of the art game is a wild ride for every WWE fan but a passable time for other gamers.
